Today, Senator Inhofe praised the President’s decision to send equipment to the Darfur region.  The President announced yesterday that he is expediting a State Department airlift of 240 containers of supplies currently stuck at Port Sudan to aid the international peacekeeping mission in Darfur.  The Department of Defense will also be airlifting 75 tons of large vehicles and heavy equipment belonging to Rwanda to aid the fight against the genocide in Sudan.

During a recent trip to the region, Senator Inhofe met with the U.S. Ambassador to Rwanda and Rwandan leaders and discussed the need to airlift the Rwandan equipment to Darfur.  He also worked with the U.S. African Command (AFRICOM) to accelerate the process.
